Kids + Bikes + Community
Over the last three years, I've had the opportunity to volunteer with Shift Community Cycles and SafeRoutes to Schools.
In Safe Routes to School, we teach elementary school
children and community members to ride bikes. We also identify kids from
challenging backgrounds who do not have access to bikes of their own.
That’s where Shift Community Cycles comes in. We refurbish donated bicycles, and partner with SafeRoutes to give bicycles to those children who need them. Each $200 donation covers refurbishing a donated bike and adds a new helmet, lock and light set.
It's a tremendous joy to see these kids get riding, and have a bike of their own.
